How To Enable / Disable Hibernation in Windows 7 or Vista.

Click Start > Enter cmd in Search Menu > DONT hit enter

Command Prompt or cmd will appear on top in the search results.

Rt click on on it and select Run as Administrator

If UAC prompt appears, click Allow

Now in the cmd window, type: powercfg –h on (or 'off')

Hit Enter.

Reboot.

Deleting the (hidden) hibernation file (C:\hiberfil.sys) with the help of Disk Cleanup, will disable hibernation also.

This file occupies/reserves space equivalent to your RAM. Delete it only if you don't use the hibernate function or if you desperately need to reclaim some disk space.

You can of course always enable it again using the procedure suggested above.
